Project Overview:

In 2021, Toyota selected an 1800-acre site in Liberty, North Carolina, to develop its North American electric vehicle battery manufacturing center of excellence. As the project progressed, Slifco Electric was brought on as a key Electrical Contractor due to their exceptional track record in the industrial automotive market.

With the complexities of EV battery manufacturing and the constant evolution of project requirements, Slifco needed a partner capable of adapting to these ever-changing demands while maintaining precision. That’s where BIM Technology Management (BIMTM) stepped in. Leveraging our expertise in Electrical Conduit and Hanger modeling, BIMTM played a crucial role in ensuring that the model met the highest standards of constructability and accuracy.

BIMTM provided detailed and coordinated models supporting over 40 miles of conduit. Our models ensured that the installation process was streamlined, minimizing clashes and reducing costly rework. Throughout the project, our team continuously adapted to design revisions and project changes, helping Slifco Electric meet their goals on time while maintaining high-quality standards.

By aligning our BIM coordination with Slifco’s construction efforts, we helped bring efficiency to this world-class project, contributing to the successful installation of vital electrical systems that will power the next generation of automotive manufacturing.

Results:

BIMTM enabled Slifco Electric to streamline their installation process, avoiding costly delays and keeping the project on schedule. Our proactive revisions and real-time adjustments saved Slifco an estimated 20% in rework costs and prefabrication time. Additionally, by optimizing the routing of electrical conduit and hangers, BIMTM contributed to an overall project cost reduction of 20%, ensuring that Slifco Electric could meet their goals on time and within budget. These savings directly impacted the project’s bottom line, allowing for more efficient resource allocation and fewer on-site changes.
